Aerie & Auxiliary Volunteer Drive

Do you realize that Secord Lake relies on volunteers?  From officers, work parties, that keep the club in good shape & up to code, function chairs, all the way down to the dishwashers for functions – all volunteer their time and get worn out.  WE NEED YOU!!  Volunteer sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board. Please think about donating any amount of time, ideas or talents – you won’t be turned down!!  Help keep the club alive!!!

Check the tent cards on the tables for events.  Don’t forget our daily specials for food and drinks.  Help always welcome at the work party on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9 AM.   These volunteers are responsible for everything you enjoy at the club from light bulbs to … a lot!!!  For more info call Russ Norton at 989-426-7354. Support our 2nd and 4th Saturday Fish Fry and every Saturday Steak Cards.  Volunteers are always needed for the Fish Fry’s Call the club at 426-3454 for more info.

Volunteers are always needed – check the newsletter or website for upcoming events – NO volunteers turned away!

Attention Smokers!!

It has been very evident that some of our smokers are not aware that there are ashtrays and receptacles for your cigarette butts.  Smoking areas are designated and both have receptacles for your butts.  Please DO NOT throw your butts in the flower beds or grassy areas etc. unless you are willing to volunteer for the monthly work party to clean these areas up.

Annual River of Flags, Memorial Day Week-end

Our annual River of Flags will be on display from Friday, May24th through Monday (Memorial Day) May 27th.  The River of Flags is made up of United States flags with memorial cards attached planted all over the lakeside yard of the club.  This very impressive display of flags waving in the wind gives the effect of a flowing river of flags and makes you proud to be an American.

If you wish to purchase a memorial card to honor a loved one or veteran forms are available from the bartenders for $5.00 to cover the cost of the entire display for your loved one.  To give us time to prepare the flags and plant them in alphabetical order please purchase by Tuesday May21st.

Junior Order of Eagles Anyone

After attending State Convention, it was brought to our attention that some clubs have a youth program called J.O.E. {Junior Order of Eagles).   She is interested in knowing if there are others who have youths who may want to be a younger part of this Eagles Club.  It could also be open to other Aeries if the interest is out there. It takes planning and Grand Aerie approval with dedicated adults to lead our younger generation on the importance of teamwork, respect, patriotism, selflessness, and other values..  If you have any interest in supporting the start-up of this group please contact Kyle Proctor at 313-268-6101.
